Two of Canada’s largest unions, the Canadian Auto Workers (CAW) and Communications, Energy and Paperworkers (CEP), start voting Wednesday to merge into a so-called “super union.” This merger provides further evidence that Canada needs to require greater public transparency when it comes to unions, their finances and their political activity.
